SEPLA accuses Ryanair of unfair competition
"The trade union of pilots of Spanish flag carrier Iberia, SEPLA, accused Irish air carrier Ryanair of unfair competition as the company receives excessive support from the Spanish state. According to SEPLA, Ryainair receives all kind of support from the Spanish state, while it does not pay taxes for its employees. "Ryanair has a policy of unfair competition in the domestic market at a time when the Spanish air transport market suffers one of the worst crises in its history," the president of SEPLA, Justo Peral, said. Ryanair receives aid from almost all local and regional authorities at the 20 airports where it operates. Furthermore, it is the only air transport company which will not pay taxes to Spanish airports authority AENA, while all Spanish companies do not have the opportunity to benefit from this anti-crisis measure of the Spanish Government, Peral added."
